Lassithi is the easternmost prefecture of Crete. With 3 major cities, Agios Nikolaos, Sitia and Ierapetra. The mountain of Lasithotikon and Stiaka mountains occupy the largest part. Also there are several valleys, plateaus, canyons, headlands and islands.

Agios Nikolaos is the capital of Lasithi. Visit Voulismeni lagoon in the center of town, the marina, quaint streets and shops of the town beach. Agios Nikolaos has a marina, harbor, bus station and is close to 2 airports. You can visit the  archaeological museum, Lake Voulismeni downtown, the marina and the Square of Nearchus.

In Lassithi area we recommend to visit the town of Elounda, the island of Spinalonga, the island of Golden, the beach with the unique palmforest of Vai, faragi of Richtis. Also theToplou monastery, the Monastery of Saint George in Selinari gorge and the cave of Milatos.

In Lassithi you can enjoy water sports like water skiing, windsurfing, pedal boats and sports such as tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf, hiking trails, etc.

The average temperature range from 11 degrees Celsius (52F) in January to 26 degrees (79F) during July and August. Tourism in Lasithi mainly lasts from May to October with peak months in July and August.

In Lasithi you can arrive by plane at the airports of Heraklion or Sitia. Also by ferry from Piraeus to Heraklion.
